Construction Updates

08.06.2017

The general contractor carrying out the construction of the Depository, Restoration and Exhibition Center as part of the Museum village development for the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts is starting the temporary dismantling of the entrance gate pillars at 6 Kolymazhny Lane.

The preserved pillars were a part of the fence surrounding the area where a mansion house (the so-called “House by the Altars”) was built in the 18th century and reconstructed several times. The Mouseion Children’s Educational Center is currently located in the building.

The pillars are not an architectural monument, as their decoration was lost and subsequently restored in 2005. However, they remain a historical object and an element of the city planning structure – the completion of the mansion fence. As agreed with the Museum, the team of architects from the “Project Meganom” bureau decided to dismantle the architectural elements of the fence and reinstall them when the construction is completed.

The Depository, Restoration and Exhibition Center building will be commissioned in 2020.
